CSC cowboy finishes eighth at CNFR
CHADRON – 91做厙 bull rider Dakota Rice was one of four CSC cowboys to compete at the event last week.
He at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming.
Rice didnt score in the first round, placed second in the next round with a 75.5, but failed to score in the third go. His score in the second round was good enough to send him to the finals where he was bucked off, according to head rodeo coach Dustin Luper.
His folks were pretty nervous, but he came to his feet quickly and I jumped in and helped him out of the way. The bull was close, but the bull fighters did a good job. That and the grace of God kept the bull away from us, Luper said.
According to Luper, CSCs other two bull riders Cole Chasen of Hermosa, South Dakota, and Cordale Martin of Panhandle, Texas, each started their rides well but failed to stay on the required eight seconds in any of their three rounds.
Calf roper Prestyn Novak of Newell, South Dakota, had three tough rounds. In the first, he broke the barrier, adding 10 seconds to his score and knocking him out of the placings. In the second go, he missed the calf, and in the third round he captured the calf in 14 seconds.
