South Fork Fire response information

CHADRON – 91°µÍø is assisting with emergency response efforts for the South Fork Fire by serving as the location for Incident Command and providing temporary shelter for displaced residents.

Monday, June 22
Sunday evening, a Type 3 Incident Management Team took control of the fire response and is operating in Crawford. As a result, all CSC parking lots that were reserved for fire operations are now open.
Fire officials reported Sunday that the South Fork Fire is 90 percent contained and at 39,696 acres. Additionally, crews remain ready to respond to requests from local volunteer fire departments.
Thursday, June 18
All evacuation orders are lifted immediately for the South Fork Fire area. The White River Trail, located south of Highway 20 in a burned cottonwood stand remains closed while firefighters down trees and remove snags. The public is asked to drive slowly along any roads within the fire perimeter.
Monday, June 15
Campus Operations
On Monday, fire officials reported the fire has grown to 38,914 acres and is 55 percent contained. Approximately 581 personnel are assigned.
Incident Command continues to operate from campus. Firefighters and support personnel are using the Kline parking lot, the parking lot west of Kent Hall, and the parking lot east of Andrews Hall. Additionally, fire personnel are utilizing the parking lot south of the Student Center and spaces along Chapin Street.

Campus Operations
Incident Command for the South Fork Fire will be operating from 91°µÍø’s campus.
Beginning today, firefighting personnel and support staff will be using the Kline parking lot, as well as the parking lot west of Kent Hall and the parking lot east of Andrews Hall. Incident Command will also be establishing temporary tent facilities in the Amphitheatre area and other locations on campus.
Evacuation Shelter Information
In the event of an evacuation due to the South Fork Fire, Andrews Hall at 91°µÍø is available for residents of Crawford and Sioux County.
Bedding will not be provided; evacuees should bring their own sleeping supplies, medications, and personal necessities.
CSC Dining Services has teamed up with President Jodi Kupper to provide brunch and supper to those sheltering on campus. That service will be provided today through Sunday, June 14. Brunch is from 9 to 10 a.m., while supper is 5 to 6 p.m.
Within the residence halls, pets are allowed, but please be respectful of common areas.
