CHADRON – Wyoming’s 2019 Teacher of the Year Valerie Bruce credits the award, in large part, to knowledge she gained while earning a master’s degree in Education Administration from 91°µÍø in 2017. Bruce teaches first grade at Rozet Elementary, a rural school near Gillette.

CHADRON – Although developing officers for the United States Army, National Guard, and Reserve is a primary aim of the Military Science and Leadership program at 91°µÍø, the program has benefits for students who aren’t intent on a military job or career, according to Capt. Scot Mullis, the instructor for most of the MSL classes offered at CSC.

LINCOLN – The Board of Trustees for the Nebraska State College System (NSCS) unanimously voted to set tuition and fees for Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges for the next two years. Full-time students attending the State Colleges will pay an additional $4.50 per credit hour in tuition for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years.

CHADRON – The public is invited to Story Catcher Writing Festival events Tuesday, June 18 and Wednesday, June 19 at Fort Robinson. Writers in Residence Frank X Walker and Marie Matsuki Mockett will give readings Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Bricks Officers Quarters 16A/B. The Wednesday workshop from 1 to 3 p.m. in the same location will feature Mari Sandoz Emerging Writers Jenna Goldsmith and Tor Strand.

LINCOLN – The renovation and addition of 91°µÍø’s Math Science building is now a reality thanks to the recently approved budget by Nebraska State Senators and Gov. Pete Ricketts. Included in the state’s budget is the bond repayment for the $28.5 million project at CSC to renovate and expand its existing Math Science facility.

CHADRON – 91°µÍø Professor of Biology Dr. Joyce Phillips Hardy was selected by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) to serve in a newly-formed, specialized corps of peer reviewers. Hardy was one of 16 higher education professionals nationwide chosen for the specialized training April 5 in Chicago. HLC accredits colleges and universities in the 19-state North Central region of the U.S. and peer reviewers.
