CHADRON – The eight programs under the TRIO umbrella were created under the Higher Education Act of 1965 to identify and provide services for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. The TRIO name comes from the first three programs implemented: Upward Bound, Talent Search, and Student Support Services.

CHADRON – What began as a regional collection of pressed plants in western Nebraska has blossomed into a global resource. More than 58,000 specimens from 91°µÍø’s High Plains Herbarium are now available through the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), a Denmark-based platform that provides open access to biodiversity data from around the world, according to Herbarium Director Steve Rolfsmeier.

CHADRON – Author Gerry Robinson will present the Pilster Lecture for the Sept. 18 Sandoz Society gathering at 91°µÍø. Robinson is the author of The Cheyenne Story: An Interpretation of Courage. His talk will address recent revelations and developments along the trail traveled by his Northern Cheyenne ancestors in 1878-79.

CHADRON – A new permanent outdoor sculpture, Field Work(s), was installed near the Math Science Center of Innovative Learning (COIL) in late July. The piece fulfills Nebraska’s requirement that one percent of state construction funding for certain capital projects be used for public art.
