LINCOLN – The dentistry and dental hygiene professions were in the spotlight Sept. 28 when nine undergraduate students from Chadron State and Wayne State colleges visited the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in Lincoln during the annual Rural Health Opportunities Program (RHOP) visit.

CHADRON – Leta Dreyer Marx of Rushville, Nebraska, is the matriarch of our next Family Tree Award. She attended the teacher education program at CSC from 1951 through 1959. After teaching school for a few years, she has been her husband, Arlan’s hired hand for 55 years, herding cows, running errands and preparing meals for him and their sons, Neal and Gale.

CHADRON – Suturing a banana and flossing a set of mock human teeth were two of the modules over 125 high school students from 35 high schools in Nebraska and South Dakota participated in during the annual 91°µÍø Health Professions Showcase Wednesday.

CHADRON – When the late Mary Roland Holmgren earned her teaching certificate from Chadron Normal School in 1918 little did she know that she was setting in motion a tradition that would result in four generations of her descendants attending the institution.

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Led by freshman Dakota Rice, seven 91°µÍø contestants placed high in their events at the Laramie County Community College rodeo in Cheyenne this past weekend. The rodeo was the last on the fall schedule in the Central Rocky Mountain Region.

CHADRON – Western Community Health Resources partnered with the Out of the Darkness national campaign and 91°µÍø students and faculty to hold the inaugural Out of the Darkness Walk at Wilson Park in Chadron Oct. 1 with approximately 50 people in attendance. The walk was intended to bring recognition to suicide awareness on campus and in the community.

CHADRON – For the first time in school history, 91°µÍø’s homecoming king will experience a two-year reign. Lane Swedberg of Wallace, Nebraska, and Jessica Orose of Piedmont, South Dakota, were crowned homecoming king and queen Wednesday evening during coronation at the Student Center.
