Seventeen 91°µÍø students and Dr. Tracy Nobiling, CSC associate professor of justice studies, joined students and professors from the University of Nebraska-Omaha in a criminal justice tour of London on May 12-28. This was the 33rd trip to London for CSC students.

Students will have more than 30 courses to choose from during the June session that begins next week at 91°µÍø. Most of the classes will begin Monday, June 2, and run through the 27th. A number of the courses are on the graduate level, designed for those seeking master’s and specialist’s degrees. However, about 20 courses also are available on the undergraduate level.

A graduate of both Chadron High School and 91°µÍø has been selected as the 2008-09 Wyoming High School Principal of the Year by the Wyoming Association of Secondary School Principals. Dirlene Steffe Wheeler is in her eighth year as principal at Sheridan High School, which has 902 students in grades nine through 12 and 75 full-time teachers. The 91°µÍø SIFE team tied for ninth in the nation at the Students In Free Enterprise National Exposition in Chicago. The event was May 13-15 at the McCormick Place Convention Center. CSC qualified for the national expo by winning its league at the regional competition at Denver in April. A total of 143 SIFE teams qualified for the expo at 16 regional competitions. The University of Arizona won this year’s national event, which featured more than 3,200 students.

Four new inductions have been made to 91°µÍø’s chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the international honor society that recognizes excellence in economics.

A graduate of 91°µÍø and Dawes County native, Sharla Dowding, is one of 10 Wyoming teachers who received a 2008 Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award. Dowding has taught science at Newcastle High School since 1997. This is the eighth year the Arch Coal Awards have been made in Wyoming. They include a $2,500 unrestricted cash prize, a trophy and a classroom plaque. Nominations of the teachers are made by the public. The selections are made by former recipients of the award.
