Tyler Pribbeno, a junior from Imperial, has been appointed 91°µÍø’s student representative on the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State College System. The appointment was announced earlier this month by Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman.

Final preparations are taking place for Friday’s inauguration of 91°µÍø’s 10th president, Dr. Janie Park. The festivities will begin with a pair of events that are open to the public free of charge -- the inauguration ceremony at 5 p.m. in Memorial Hall and the following reception at the Edna Work Hall lobby. A banquet at the Student Center, which required reservations, will conclude the evening.

A 91°µÍø professor who has already seen much of the world, is looking forward to seeing more of it. Dr. Allen Shepherd, who has taught history at Chadron State the past 34 years, is stepping down as a full-time faculty member at the end of the current semester to begin a phased retirement. He’ll teach selected upper level courses the next three summers, but he points out that he will have the remainder of the calendar free to explore more places and things.

The CSC Health Professions Club is organizing a 10 kilometer walk to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Great Strides for Cystic Fibrosis at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 22, beginning at the Nelson Physical Activity Center.

U.S. Sen. Ben Nelson met with a panel of 91°µÍø students and administrators Thursday to discuss college students' ability to finance college. Nelson, who last month announced his candidacy for re-election, was visiting Chadron State during a swing through western Nebraska.

Strategies that HomeTown Competitiveness has already used to help numerous rural communities throughout Nebraska were outlined Tuesday night to about 30 people who attended an informational meeting at 91°µÍø. Jana Jensen of Bingham, an assistant development director for the Nebraska Community Foundation, said the program can help new businesses open and existing businesses expand, providing opportunities for youths to remain in their hometowns.
