91°µÍø students proved that they have lots of perseverance. Thirty-two of the original 42 participants in the first “Hand on the Car” contest that began at 9 a.m. Friday persevered for 24 hours, meaning that more than half of a deck of cards was drawn to determine the winner of a 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada that was the focal point of the contest.

Three South Dakota schools and two from Nebraska were the champions Friday at the 45th annual Inter-High School Scholastic Contest at 91°µÍø. More than 1,800 students from 53 schools were entered in the event.

“The Year of the Blizzard” will be the theme of the 16th annual Mari Sandoz Heritage Society’s conference at 91°µÍø on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 14-16. The conference title is based on Sandoz’s 1954 novelette, “Winter Thunder.”
