The search for a new president at 91°µÍø continues. Stan Carpenter, executive director of the Board of Trustees of the Nebraska State Colleges, told the Chadron State employees Tuesday morning that none of the three finalists for the position who visited the campus last week will fill the position.

A well-known food writer, lecturer and culinary historian, Mary Gunderson of Yankton, S.D., will speak at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 7 in the Student Center at 91°µÍø. No admission will be charged.

The 91°µÍø Students In Free Enterprise team won the organization’s regional case study competition Thursday through Saturday. The event was at the campus of Metropolitan State University in Denver. Chadron State’s team defeated clubs from Colorado State-Pueblo, Kansas State, University of California Chico, Newman University and Pepperdine University.

Daryl Davis of Silver Spring, Md., who has become known for his unique approach to race relations, will speak at 91°µÍø on Monday, Feb. 7 at 7 p.m. The presentation at the Student Center will be free and open to the public. Davis, who is black, will tell stories of setting up surprise meetings with Ku Klux Klan leaders who were unaware of his skin color and attending KKK rallies to promote dialogue.

Jessi Moore of Chadron and Brandon Doke of Ainsworth were crowned Chadron State’s Winter Magic Formal queen and king on Saturday night. Moore and Doke, who are dating each other, were chosen by a vote of Chadron State’s students. There were 43 candidates for the honor.

Photographs illustrating the infamous “Trail of Tears” from Georgia to Oklahoma in 1838-39 will open Friday, Jan. 28 in the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center at 91°µÍø. The exhibit will remain open to the public through Feb. 25.

Only a limited number of tickets remain for the performance by the Omaha Symphony’s chamber orchestra in Memorial Hall at 91°µÍø on Thursday, Jan. 27. The concert is a part of Chadron State’s Galaxy Series. Conductor Ernest Richardson will give a pre-concert talk beginning at 7 p.m. The concert will open at 7:30.
