CHADRON – Five 91°µÍø students attended the Story Catcher Writing Workshop and Festival July 19-22 in Gunnison, Colorado. The workshop is funded primarily through the Pilster Endowment Fund of the Mari Sandoz Society. CSC Dean’s Council and Dean Jim Margetts assisted with funding the students’ travel according to Dr. Matt Evertson, Professor of English.

CHADRON – 91°µÍø will host On the Road Again, an art exhibition related to the open road, in Memorial Hall’s Main Gallery Aug. 31-Sept. 28. The pieces were selected from the collection of Sheldon Museum of Art at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. CHADRON – Pioneer photographer Fred W. Farrar chronicled the Black Hills from the turn of the 20th century through the 1930s. An exhibit that opened in July at the Mari Sandoz High Plains Heritage Center consists of 30 of 39 pieces displayed in the 1980s in a collection organized by Dr. Allen Shepherd, a former CSC History Professor, and the late Mary Farrar, daughter of Farrar.

LINCOLN – The Nebraska State College System (NSCS) recently released an economic impact report, demonstrating the collective impact of Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State Colleges on Nebraska. This independent report illustrates that the NSCS adds $564.8 million in income to the Nebraska economy each year, signifying that your State Colleges are working for Nebraska.

LINCOLN – Governor Pete Ricketts has appointed Sullivan Jones of Papillion, Matthew Leininger of Auburn, and Brett Hilbers of Valley, to serve as student trustees on the Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees. They will each serve a one-year term (2022-2023 academic year) and represent Chadron, Peru, and Wayne State College students, respectively.

CHADRON – 91°µÍø Art professors Laura Bentz and Mary Donahue will exhibit black and white photographs and paintings, respectively, in “Quiet Witness of the High Plains” July 14 through Sept. 19 at Fred Simon Gallery in Omaha. The show is co-sponsored by the Nebraska Arts Council and the Nebraska Cultural Endowment. An opening reception will be July 14 from 5-7 p.m.
