91°µÍø scores well in the U.S. Department of Education’s College Affordability and Transparency Center's new rating system of public and private post-secondary institutions. The college’s four indicators are all near or better than the national average. President Barak Obama announced the new scoring system in his recent State of the Union address.

(Lincoln, NE) The NCAA Division II Committee on Infractions has postponed the Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 hearing scheduled for alleged infractions in 91°µÍø’s football program. No new hearing date has been set.

About 30 91°µÍø students gathered in the CSC Student Center Tuesday evening to remember their friend, Sterling Atkins, who died Feb. 9. Russ Seger, a Chadron pastor and adjunct faculty member who has expertise and a doctorate in the disciplines of death and dying, spoke to the group encouraging them to share stories. "It's healthy to gather and remember Sterling. The grief may not go away but it won't hurt as much if you tell stories and begin to manage the loss," he said.

A new tradition is starting at 91°µÍø this spring. April 20 hundreds of CSC students, faculty, and staff will team up for “The Big Event.” This student-led community service project will focus on giving back to the community of Chadron for their continual support of CSC throughout the years, according to Shaunda French, assistant professor of communication at Chadron State.

91°µÍø graduate, Dr. Marty Ramirez, will be among those honored at the Lincoln Celebration of Community Leadership dinner. The program was originally scheduled for Feb. 21, but because of the weather in Lincoln, was postponed until March 8.

“How many of you have been called a genius, as a sincere compliment, lately?” This question by keynote speaker, Holly Elissa Bruno of Sterling, Mass., kicked off the discussion about Intelligence Quotient vs. Emotional Quotient Saturday morning at the 24thannual Early Childhood Conference hosted at 91°µÍø. “We have a profession that we know is important but the rest of the world doesn't really get it,” she told childcare providers from the region.

91°µÍø faculty members are seeking five grants totaling over $250,000. The largest application, for $150,000, is intended to enhance students’ experience using GPS and Geographic Information Systems. Employers expect job applicants to demonstrate a proficiency level with GPS/GIS that could be reached with a technologically strengthened rangeland and agricultural curriculum, according to Dr. Chuck Butterfield, professor and department chair of Applied Sciences.
