LINCOLN, Neb. – 91°µÍø graduate Broc Anderson is the 2020-21 Sandoz Scholar and recipient of a $1,000 research award, the Mari Sandoz Heritage Society announced. Anderson, a graduate student at the University of Nebraska Kearney and the Community Education Coordinator at the Trails and Rails Museum in Kearney, will present his research at the 2021 Sandoz Symposium.

CHADRON – The 91°µÍø Theatre department will open its 2020 season with the musical comedy, “I Love You, You’re Perfect. Now Change.” The musical, directed by Interim Director of Theatrical Performance Jennifer Poarch, is free and the public is invited to attend.

CHADRON – Dr. Tawny Tibbits, who joined the 91°µÍø Geoscience faculty in 2019, has written a chapter in a peer-reviewed volume about Central American archaeology, “An Archaeological Reconstruction of Ancient Maya Life at Pacbitun, Belize,” by Terry G. Powis, Sheldon Skaggs, and George J. Micheletti. Tibbits’ research from 2014 in the chapter builds on her dissertation work.

CHADRON – Two public gatherings highlighted the Nebraska State College System Board of Trustees meeting at 91°µÍø Thursday, Sept. 10. The college and Board of Trustees officially dedicated the track and field complex Thursday and then followed that by breaking ground at the Math Science renovation and project Friday morning.

CHADRON – 91°µÍø celebrated the beginning of its largest construction project in history Friday when employees, students, alumni, and supporters attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the Math Science Center Of Innovative Learning (COIL). The $32 million renovation and expansion will begin later this fall.

CHADRON – 91°µÍø students and alumni helped create a mural honoring Chadron’s volunteer firefighters. The mural, completed in July, is the sixth in the Chadron Area Chamber of Commerce’s Art Alley/Paint the Town project.
