CHADRON – Similar to many 91°µÍø events since March, the first fall Theatre production featured adaptations. According to Professor Scott Cavin, the Oct. 1 CSC Live stream of “I Love You. You’re Perfect. Now Change.” reached approximately 300 high school students at multiple locations around western Nebraska. The following night, an additional 317 viewers at 115 unique sites streamed the play.

CHADRON – Four 91°µÍø students presented during the virtual High Plains Regional English honorary Sigma Tau Delta conference Oct. 23. They are Ashtyn Blacksheep of Fort Collins, Colo., Johnny Gill of Auburn, Neb., Julissa Gomez of Alliance, Neb., and Abigail Swanson of Grand Island, Neb. Dr. Karen Enos and Dr. Mary Clai Jones also attended the video conference.

CHADRON – How does a theatre department present a play that is socially distanced during a pandemic? This question, combined with time travel and how it could result in alternate outcomes, led 91°µÍø Professor Scott Cavin into a collaboration with Artist-in-Residence Jenn Poarch and playwright David Craven, a former CSC Artist-in-Residence, who lives in Georgia, to develop a concept.

CHADRON – Four 91°µÍø Health, Physical Education, and Recreation majors have been nominated by faculty for Major of the Year Awards during the 2020 Nebraska Society of Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE) Conference. The conference, previously scheduled for early November, has transitioned to an online format.

CHADRON – The Panhandle Advantage is a collaborative effort between Western Nebraska Community College and 91°µÍø created to streamline the process for WNCC students who have earned an associate’s degree to complete a bachelor’s degree at CSC. Each WNCC graduate with a qualifying GPA is eligible for a two-year scholarship to CSC.

CHADRON – 91°µÍø Social Work seniors Taylee Neefe of Hemingford, Neb., Katelyn Wheeler of Imperial, Neb., and Celeste Cardona of Mitchell, Neb., are among the 11 students making final preparations to distribute LGBTQ+ informational videos on flash drives next week as part of their class (SW 435). The original videos are customized for different audiences, including students in elementary, middle, and high schools, their parents, and educators.

CHADRON – Chadron Mayor Miles Bannan proclaimed Nov. 8 First Generation Student Day during a City Council meeting Monday night. The declaration celebrates the 55th anniversary of the signing of the 1965 Higher Education Act and acknowledges the talents and potential first generation students have to offer their communities. The declaration also reinforces the important role TRiO programs, Project Strive and Upward Bound, play in promoting educational success for first generation students.

LINCOLN – The Nebraska State College System is conducting a search for Peru State College’s 34th president following President Dan Hanson’s retirement announcement to the Peru community today. After twelve years of service to Peru State College and Southeast Nebraska, Dr. Hanson will leave the role in June 2021.
